Amouage
Founded in the Sultanate of Oman in 1983 by the Albusaidi royal family at the request of Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, Amouage was envisioned as a cultural project to restore and celebrate the great Arabian art of high perfumery. Known universally as "The Gift of Kings," the house was originally created to produce ultra-luxurious scents that the Sultan could present as exclusive gifts to visiting foreign dignitaries and royalty.
The name itself is a brilliant poetic fusion, cleverly blending the French word amour (love) with the Arabic word amwaj (waves), translating conceptually to "waves of emotion."
